Edinburgh Fringe 2008

What are we up to at the Fringe this year? Two very different shows with ridiculously long titles!

True to our promise to sniff out the best little-known works, we present Lucky Nurse and Other Short Musical Plays – a unique opportunity to explore the early work of celebrated Broadway songwriter Michael John LaChiusa. Ordinary lives turn extraordinary by the unexpected intervention of grace, in this darkly comic cycle of musical stories by five time Tony nominated composer of The Wild Party.

Alongside this we give to you the hilarious pastiche: The Musical of Musicals: The Musical by Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart. Lovingly sending up the musical form and its most infamous songwriters – from Lloyd Webber to Sondheim – this is a brilliant cocktail of great songs and gags.

London Preview

Fringe too far for you?

Never fear, Throwaway will be previewing both Lucky Nurse and Musical of Musicals and more, as part of a special preview night Curtain Up at Madame Jojos, London, on Sunday 10th August.

We look forward to seeing you there!

So is it the feather boa or the Phantom mask?  See our wish list and help keep us in sparkly top hats.  No, really.

Hello!

Welcome to Throwaway Theatre, presenting the best in progressive and entertaining musical theatre.

Throwaway breaks into the bottom drawers of musical theatre’s most celebrated composers, looking for neglected works possessing depth, immediacy and bite to reinvestigate for a modern audience.
